I’m adding the final touches now, I’m sorta worried this site will devolve into me updating tiny changes until I’ve reached an idealistic, unattainable perfection. The CSS right now is a mess, there’s 4 CSS files, three of which Jekyll made and some others Bootstrap probably have too, but because I’m using the CDN for Bootstrap, so I have no idea what rules it’s actually making. I’m not sure I have the patience to get around to removing all the !important tags and tracking down the all conflicting tags. It might have been easier making this from scratch instead of importing the old HTML and creating some ungodly machination of combined files.
The only annoying bug I have (as far as I know) is with the sidebar links, It’s impossible to set them to open in the same tab as this site when clicked on, I’m about 84% sure this is due to the URL provider’s ANAME settings with this site, .tk doesn’t really have a good reputation, but hey, I’m planning on spending a whole £13 on a .moe URL sometime in the future - as a quick workaround setting:
Seems to remedy it - it’s a poor fix, but whatever.
Big scary list of things that need doing:
In-browser posting- Completed: 12/03/16
- CSS clean + everything under 78 chars. in a line
- Tab opening issue
Comments- Completed: 13/03/16
- Sitemap stylesheet
Font experimentation- Completed: 13/03/16
- New URL - mktt.moe
- Button navbar for small screens
Portfolio and Contact page- Completed: 13/03/16 Electronics page updating to new framework- Completed: 12/03/16
- 404 page
I still have tonnes of stuff to do on this, and it’s starting to become
a rather large timesink. Next post will come when I’ve done 1/2 of the
things in this list, I might post some of my electronics coursework
pictures I’ve been working on too.
Here’s a side by side view of this site after and before Jekyll and Bootstrap3, respectively.
